PLANET OF THE APES (Movie Series)

The Planet of the Apes (Movies)-
Were very scary when I first saw them as a child, but now some 30 years later they are the funniest thing I'd ever seen!
These movies are part of the genre of the early 1970's sci fi flicks, where they tell the same apocalyptic theme like "Soylent Green". "Omegaman" and "Logan's run". Where men are evil and they are the cause of their own destruction. Like many sequels the "Planet of the apes" sequels get to be more silly than the first.
I am not sure the history behind Charlton Heston's commitment to do sci fi and disaster movies at the autumn of his movie careet, but I'm glad he did because he has such a painful look on his face every time he screamed.
Obviously the make up of these movies are perfect and the concept of talking apes and them taking over our planet in the future is a lot of fun. The fun part of these movies is that you cannot pick out the villains, is it the man? of the apes?
Man destroying their own planet with pollution, anger, addiction, hatred and prejudice, OR is it the ape learning the evils of mankind and decide to take their own planet back?
Anyway the performances are great in these movies and that wonder love scene with Charlton Heston and the ape woman Dr. Zarah is precious! It's about as sexy as the love scene with Henry Fonda and Katherine Hepburn in "On golden pond".

TOP GUN

Top Gun
-
You can't get more 80's than this movie, loud electronic beat soundtrack, the main characters are 2 dimensional and arrogant, and all the guys had sun tans and gel in their hair. Tom Cruise plays Maverick 20 years before his jumping on the couch performance on Oprah.
Maverick is a selfish ambitious wreck less Top Gun pilot in training. This movie was filled with homo erotic innuendos from the moment Val Kilmer meets Cruise to the to topless beach volleyball scene to the walking around in underwear scene. They say this was suppose to be a Guy's film..perhaps of the flying machines and stunts but other than that I can't believe that men are as shallow as the characters on the film or anything this film represented.
The most ridiculous thing about this movie was once all the pilots graduate from their top gun training, an unidentified group of terrorist or enemy of some kind are heading toward the United States in a surprise air attack. But just in time for these fresh out of the academy cocky pilots go hop in to their manly fighter jets and shoot everyone of these attackers off the sky.
No questions asked and no one even explain who the attackers were, just so that Maverick and his pals can do some sky high stunts. Later everyone cheer to the 80's dance soundtrack as Maverick rides his motorcycle to pick up his much-too-old-for-him middle age girlfriend: played by Kelly McGillis wearing a bomber jacket and mini skirt.
Like Oh Mi Gawd it's totally rad dude!
